Einen Löffel Zimt schlucken. Sich mit Bananen und Sprite „abfüllen“. Den eigenen Oberkörper löschen, nachdem er mit hochprozentigem Alkohol übergossen und angezündet wurde. Dies sind Challenges, die Jugendliche auf TikTok und YouTube präsentieren – mit weitreichenden Folgen. Ich stelle euch Challenges vor, bei denen der Körper mit alltäglichen Stoffen wie Zimt, Chili, Deo oder Waschmittelkapseln in Kontakt gebracht wird. Daran zeige ich die Gefährdungspotenziale der Challenges auf und ordne sie für euch naturwissenschaftlich fundiert ein. Ich weiß nicht, ob wir je nachvollziehen werden können, warum Menschen ausgerechnet Waschmittelkapseln kauen möchten. Vielleicht bringt uns ein Bierchen auf gute Ideen?

In our daily life, we rely on certain regularities of our environment – such as knowing that an approaching car (cause) poses a potential threat and could hit us (effect). Such regularities are broadly referred to as „causality“. I will talk about the perception of causality in simple 2D displays (my main research topic) and relations to peoples‘ knowledge of physics from a personal perspective (and based on scientific literature).
